Vieques is a sleepy little island eight miles off the east coast of
Puerto Rico. It is one the three inhabited islands of the Commonwealth of Puerto
Rico. It's about 21 miles long and about 7 miles across at its widest point.
Only the center section is populated; the rest is under the protection of the US
Fish & Wildlife Service.
