Biking in Vieques
When the U.S. Navy left Vieques in 2003, thousands of acres of undeveloped land
was turned over to the Fish and Wildlife Service and the Municipal Government of
Vieques. While some of the former Navy land is still off limits pending
environmental clean-up, much of it is available for exploration, preferably via
mountain bike.
The companies offer bike rentals and mountain bike tours.
The terrain varies from "mostly flat" to "rough going", according to a published
map for cyclists.
