By chance, we found a lovely two story duplex in 1994, decided to purchase, remodel and "make it our own". With tender loving care we think we have transformed it into a charming walled town villa. Bougainvillea now spills over the front walls. Hibiscus and oleanders line the deep set entry. The secluded, lush tropical garden within the rear walls is filled with bananas, mangos, ginger, philodendrons of many varieties, palms, bromeliads, and 'mas y mas'.
We will rent our first floor to two to four people who are looking for a peaceful Caribbean "hide-away" and prefer non-smokers. The downstairs has two air-conditioned bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other a queen, two baths, living room, nicely equipped kitchen and private patio. And, YES we have hot water.... even in the kitchen! The patio sits in the midst of the walled, tropical garden.
Culebra is half way between Puerto Rico and St. Thomas, is four miles wide and seven miles long. It requires no passport and uses US currency. We have no large hotels, no supermarkets, no cruise ships and no crime..... Nothing to spoil the tranquility - an idyllic Caribbean "get away".
Easily accessible by commuter plane from San Juan or by ferry from Fajardo, Culebra DOES have the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, wide swathes of sand and unspoiled coral reefs. Diving, sailing, snorkeling off the surrounding cays are easily arranged as well as bike and car rentals.
