. . . a spectacular view of Barracuda Bay

This new 3 bedroom dwelling features terrazzo floors throughout. It is fully equipped for the vacationer with everything from beach chairs & toys to cooler and portable Bar-B-Q.

FEATURES: Bedrooms include queen, double & twin beds (linens included). Living room, large modern kitchen, ceiling fans throughout, tile bath, huge 2000 wraparound terrace, outdoor shower, washing machine and dryer.

Our home is perched on a hillside facing the south coast and the constant balmy breezes of the trade winds. It is situated on a one acre parcel in Bo. Lujan. The setting is best described as a semi-rural village. It is more akin to something one might encounter in a European hill town, than anything we have in N. America. Other homes in the area run the gamut from classic island family homes to the sprawling vacation villas of wealthy main islanders. From the terrace one looks out over a five mile swathe of scalloped shoreline, including coastal plain, mangrove conservation zones, and some of the most breath-taking beaches on the island, if not the entire Caribbean!

Area gardens abound in a variety of tropical fruits and vegetables for the islander's table. Included are Mango, Papaya, Avocado, Citrus, Coconut, Passion Fruit, Breadfruit, Pineapple, Banana, Squash & Ground Vegetables to name a few. Along the roads one might encounter the handsome Brahma cattle that are raised here and roam about the island freely.

This is not your typical canned resort where one is hermetically sealed off from the outside world. At night there is a chorus of crickets and tree frogs serenading the sky that is filled with a billion stars. It is not unusual to hear the crowing of roosters or the snorting & carousing of horses out feeding in the wee hours of the cool night. The graceful white egret is a frequent daytime visitor. There are often large hawks or osprey circling above, riding the thermals.

Posada Glorieta is always clean, fully functional, bright and comfortable. In short, a nice, simply but thoughtfully appointed island style vacation home, not a luxury rental. Our bookshelf includes selections on native birds, fish & Vieques natural history. Our guest book contains a wealth of practical information including 4 hand written pages on our favorite snorkeling in Vieques along with best places to eat. The house is centrally located 5 to 10 minutes to either of the two towns for dining or shopping, & even closer to some of the nicest island beaches.

Rates:

Activities might include: snorkeling, sailing, scuba, horseback riding, fishing, beach hiking, shelling, wind surfing, sunbathing, kayaking, and night time boat trips to the Bioluminescent bay. There is also an old Spanish Fort/Museum, a restored light house and numerous nature trails to explore. For the money the $2 ferry ride across the Vieques Sound has to be one of the best sightseeing values of all time. It passes hundreds of uninhabited islets and cays and affords excellent vistas of the cloud shrouded peaks of "El Yunque" & the Caribbean National Forest. A great day trip! Of course the main activity in Vieques is doing nothing at all. There seems to be something magical about the place. From the moment the plane touches down in the small airport your heart-rate slows by at least 25%. The great part about it is that this pace seems to stay with you long after you've returned home.
