Day 6 7/25/09
I’m stopping at Belly Buttons for breakfast this morning.
Just had a simple two eggs over easy and toast and coffee, but
it was good and it was light. I was early and not too many folks
were out yet after a Friday night of a double holiday weekend,
the last before kids return to school and the last two Puerto
Rican holidays for a while. From there I was off to my office in
Isabel Segunda. Roy’s does have the best coffee on the island.
While there, I fixed a business owner’s laptop, and arranged an
appointment with Dave Evans Nan-Sea Charters to redo his
website. He and Chip have worked hard to build a great dive
business not only by their professionalism, but by their
extensive scouting of new and great dive sights.
I grabbed lunch to go at Trade Winds on my way to my appointment
with Dave, and now I’m just spending the remainder of the
afternoon relaxing on my terrace, while I decide if I’m going to
do anything at all tonight.
I decided to go to Bili for Dinner. I haven’t seen Eva, the
owner, in a long time. She used to cook for the Governor of
Puerto Rico in the Governor’s mansion, and was a caterer in San
Juan for a long time and has now settled in Vieques to
open Amapola Guesthouse and Bili Restaurant. Her food has always been
great in the past, but I hadn’t heard much about it in a few
years.
The meal I had was excellent. I had the skirt steak and it was
medium rare and tender as promised. The flavors were really good
and the salad was a self-styled “Island Caesar.”
The pièce de résistance though was the dessert, which was
a guava crème torte with homemade guava ice cream. I headed home
full and satisfied.
