Day 4 7/23/09
Just coffee and cantaloupe this morning at Tamarindo, and
then on to Roy’s for a breakfast burrito.

On the way to Roy’s, I stopped at Sun Bay (Sombe in Spanish)
which is my favorite beach on the island. The horses are still
running free; the beach is still a mile of spectacular,
uncrowded, gorgeous, palm lined, turquoise blue, paradise. I
love it, and took far too many pictures of it, in spite of the
fuzzy horizon.
The burrito, it was “Umm, umm good” too. And if you ask for the
“stimulus package,” you get a free cup of coffee with it. I
don’t know how long the “stimulus package” will last, but it’s a
deal. Also, if you’re looking for something cold and
caffeinated, I highly recommend the “Frozen Roy”, which is a
thick rich, frozen cappuccino style drink, made from scratch
with their own espresso. That, and their frozen Parcha (passion
fruit) drink, will give you “freeze head,” they’re so good.
Left there to go back to Tamarindo for a swim and a rest before
taking my “what’s Happenin” writer to dinner at Blue Crab. The
swim was great and refreshing in the pool with just a commanding
view of the Caribbean, and I was well rested for my next new
adventure into food.

Sunset in Isabel Segunda |
Janie was waiting for me when I picked her up, and we were to
Isabel Segunda and “Blue Crab.” Little had changed inside from
its previous two incarnations, which is fine because it is
actually very nice. The owner-bartender was jovial and
talkative, so we talked about business in Vieques, and seasonal
stuff, which always brings a smile to my face, because it
reminds me of Caribbean time and how slowly things change.
The menu was good, especially for off-season and not too
extensive. I had the baby-back pork ribs. It’s a full rack and
falls off the bone. Great! Janie had the Seared Mahi topped with
Coconut Shrimp, which was tasty, and it was so much, she had to
take some home. It was good enough to say it’s worth a stop for
a great meal.
